Mr. Peter Arzu, Police (Ret.) – President
My name is Fabian Arzu and I was born in Belize Central America. I also served in the Belize Police Force in the mid 80’s and migrated to the United States in early 1989 and resided in Los Angeles. I later moved to Brooklyn, New York and attended Berk Trade School where I became a Nari member and eventually earned my C.L.C. (Certified Lead Carpenter) in the remodeling industry. I also served as a delegate of the south side Y.M.C.A. for a few years and now President of the Belize Ex-Services League of Chicago, Inc.
Mr. David L. Castillo, BDF (Ret.) – 1st Vice President
Mr. Castillo was born in Hopkins Village, Belize and attended Holy Family School, Ecumenical High School and Belize College of Agriculture. He served in the Belize Defense Force for six years. He immigrated to the United States in the early ’90s and Mr. Castillo currently works in pest control. Mr. Castillo was a co-founder of BEXSLOC and assists with managing BEXSLOC’s operations, supervising the organization’s business affairs. David Castillo now serves as 1st Vice President of BEXSLOC.

Mrs. Jacinta Marie Alvarez, BDF (Ret.) – Secretary
Mrs. Jacinta M. Cadle-Alvarez is a retired Woman Belize Defence Force Corporal (WBDF-Cpl) and a twelve year Honorably Discharged Veteran of the Belize Defence Force. She was born in San Ignacio, Cayo District in the Country of Belize. Shortly after Hurricane Hattie she was taken to Belize City by her parents where she attended Saint Ignatius Primary and the Belize Junior Secondary School No.2, she resided there until she migrated to the United States of America in 1997 to present.
Mrs. Alvarez got her military experience by joining the ranks of the Belize Defence Force as an enlisted soldier (Sep. 1984 – Sep.1996). After Basic Training she served in various departments holding posts ranging from Medic (Admin Coy) to Chief Clerk (Air Wing); during this time she also attended leadership and skills Cadres. Retired Corporal Alvarez also served as President of the Junior Non-Commissioned Officers Club for two terms where under her leadership she led the JNCOs Football and Domino Teams to victory. Under her leadership the JNCO’s also had their first ever JNCOs Sports and Training Day.
Mrs. Alvarez not only served her country by becoming an enlisted soldier; she served the civilian sector by serving on the Board of the Belize Volunteer Blood Donors Association as its Assistant Recording Secretary and Recording Secretary. Upon her migration to the United States (Chicago) she continued her service to people and country by serving as the Secretary on the Board of the Non-Profit Organization known as the Association for Community Enhancement (ACE).
In August 2011 upon the formation of the Belize Ex-Services League of Chicago, Inc. Mrs. Alvarez was called upon to serve as its Secretary. She gladly answered this call to serve once again for a third time in 2015.

Mr. Bernard Sabal, Police (Ret,), Treasurer
Mr. Bernard Sabal was born in Dangriga Town, Belize Central America and attended Holy Ghost Primary School and Ecumenical High School in his hometown. He went on to join the Belize Police Force and served for eight years before migrating to the United States and settling down in Chicago.
Mr. Sabal enrolled at the New Buffallo Driving School and started to work as a Truck Driver and Tractor Operator since 1995.
He was elected as the Treasurer of the Belize Ex-Services League of Chicago, Inc. in 2015.
Ms. Jessie Nunez, Police (Ret.) – Asst. Treasurer
My name is Jessie Nunez. I was born on August 12, 1969 at Dangriga Town Hospital in the country of Belize to Clive and Thomasa Nunez of Hopkins Village. As a child I enjoyed hanging out on the beach. As a teenager, I became actively involved in the community as a treasurer for the Hopkins Organization of Youths (HOY). My involvement in the Hopkins Youth Organization helped me learn to contribute positively to society.
After graduating from Wesley College as the High School was name in Belize City, Belize in 1987, I ventured out and became an Elementary School Teacher from 1987 to 1990. However, I felt that there was still a part of me that wanted to serve the community in a different way, hence the reason I joined the Belize Police Department in 1990, where I served until my resignation in 1993 after which I relocated to the United States. In 2011, I became an active member of the Belize Ex-Services League of Chicago, Inc. and currently hold the position of Assistant Treasurer.
